Over 400 educators from across the attended #BARR2019 to celebrate 20 years of improving outcomes for students and heard from amazing guests including Arne Duncan, Former U.S. Secretary of Education, Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, Minnesota Education Commissioner Mary Cathryn Ricker and other leaders in education April 11 and 12, 2019 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
BARR is currently improving student outcomes in more than one hundred high schools across the U.S. and has received a Scale Up grant to expand its network to at least 250 schools and more than 250,000 students by the fall of 2021. Educators who attended the conference got two full days of building relationships with other BARR educators from across the country, seeing the BARR model in action, hearing from education leaders and experts in the fields of data, leadership, communications and more, and participated together in a brand new iTime.
As BARR Executive Director Angela Jerabek said on the second day of the conference, “The work that the educators in this room are doing is paying off; our kids are thriving academically, socially and emotionally. My call to action for all of us is to make it impossible for any of the students we support to give up on us, or for us to give up on them.”
