Josh Omang joined the BARR Center team after 22 years in public education, bringing experience as a teacher, dean of students, football coach, academy coordinator, and high school principal. He grew up on the White Earth Indian Reservation and is a first-generation descendant of the White Earth Nation, a perspective that has deeply shaped his commitment to building strong relationships and ensuring every student feels known, valued, and supported. As a BARR principal at Detroit Lakes High School, he saw firsthand the model’s impact on strengthening school communities and improving outcomes for all students, reinforcing his belief in its power to support meaningful change.
